The mission of Kora’s Rescue Ranch is to provide loving care and rehabilitation to animals in need, and to find them forever homes.
Mission Statement: To advocate for animals in need and save lives by reducing unnecessary euthanasia in shelters, while also providing education and awareness to the community.
Kora’s Rescue Ranch is a foster-based rescue located in central North Carolina. Our animals live in foster homes until adoption and are shown at adoption events and partner locations, including local PetSmart adoption centers.
No — we are 100% foster-based. This allows our animals to live in loving home environments where we can better learn their personalities and needs before adoption.
We rescue both dogs and cats, including puppies, kittens, adults, seniors, and animals with special medical or behavioral needs.
Most of our animals come from high-intake shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia. We also assist with owner surrenders when resources allow.
Adoption fees vary by animal but typically range from $250–$300 for dogs and $100–$125 for cats. Fees help cover spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchipping, medical care, and ongoing rescue expenses.
All adopted animals are:
✅ Spayed or neutered
✅ Up to date on vaccinations
✅ Microchipped
✅ Heartworm tested (dogs, when age appropriate)
✅ On monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention
✅ Fully vetted and assessed in foster care
Yes! Approved adopters may foster first to ensure the animal is the right fit before officially finalizing adoption.
Due to our foster model, applications are required before scheduling meet-and-greets to ensure safety and appropriate matches.
Yes — on a case-by-case basis. Transport can often be arranged for approved adopters.
Yes, if your application has been approved prior to the event. Same-day approvals may also be possible depending on volunteer availability.
Yes — if an adoption does not work out, we advise the adopter contact Kora's Rescue Ranch immediately. If Kora's Rescue Ranch is unable to accept the return, the adopter must work in conjunction with Kora's Rescue Ranch to determine a suitable alternative.
Fostering means temporarily caring for a rescue animal in your home until adoption. Fosters provide love, basic care, and help the animal adjust to home life.
The rescue provides:
- All veterinary care
- Monthly preventatives
- Food and supplies as available
- Ongoing support from our team
Foster length varies — from a few weeks to a few months depending on the animal’s needs and how quickly they are adopted.
No! Apartments are fine as long as pets receive proper exercise and enrichment.
Yes and we strongly encourage it — it helps your foster find their forever home faster!
Because we are foster-based with limited space, intake opportunities depend on foster and medical capacity. Please contact us to discuss your situation.
Animals are closely observed in foster homes and at vet visits and events. We disclose any known behavioral or medical issues honestly so adopters can make informed decisions.
Training varies by animal. Many are crate-trained or house-trained, but continued positive reinforcement training is recommended for all newly adopted pets.
